I noticed that you recently added a "Suggestion" feature to your domain name search. It seems like you are adding something new every week, which is good, but it just makes the search run slower and look more cluttered. Can't you just go back to the plain jane look that we all were attracted to from the beginning?
Agreed. I've registered hundreds of domains/IDNs and I liked it the old way. The main reason I started using Dynadot was because of the ease of use. Now its just too cluttered.
Maybe move the link to somewhere else on the page, instead of next to every result. Also, change it back to "Not Available" because "No" sounds a little harsh ;-)
I just think the old Dynadot was better. The suggestion link now puts you in the same class as "the other guy." Why not just have the same domain search as last week?
The suggestion feature should not slow down the domain search. We don't actually generate the suggestions unless someone clicks the "suggest" link.
The speed of the search depends on several factors. The most significant factor is network latency. If there is internet congestion between our servers and the central registry, the search result will be delayed. Also, if there is congestion between your web browser and our servers, the search result will be delayed.
The second factor is how fast the central registry does the availability lookup. Most of the time this is pretty fast, but we have seen cases where the central registry servers slow down.
The final factor is the load on Dynadot's servers. We recently spent some time optimizing our code, so the load has been really low lately. Also, there is not much code that we run to process an availability check.
Have other people experienced a slowdown in searches? It is possible we overlooked something.
