User Domain Auctions FAQs
A User Domain Auction is a marketplace feature that allows Dynadot users to sell their own domains through a competitive bidding process. The highest bidder at the end of the auction receives the domain in their Dynadot account after the transaction is completed. For more details about rules in our User Auctions, read this article.
Yes. Some domain extensions cannot be listed in the marketplace, and domains under Buy Lock or Auction Lock are also ineligible for sale. To see which can and which can't be listed, please check the TLDs under Filter section, at the top of this page.
Domains that are on Buy Lock or Auction lock are domains that were recently purchased via User Listings or Auctions, respectively. Buy Lock lasts 30 days after a domain purchase order completes, and Auction Lock lasts 15 days after the winner's auction payment order completes.
To list a domain in a user auction, sign in to your Dynadot account, unlock your account, and follow these steps:
Yes, you can, but only once the domain exits the grace renewal period. When a domain is not renewed by the registrant and has passed its grace renewal period, it will go to Expired Auction. The highest bidder for the domain may then receive the domain in their Dynadot account.
Yes, it is. After a domain's grace renewal period ends, the domain is listed in Expired Auctions, and customers can bid the domain there.
If there are no bids in Expired Auctions, the domains go to Closeouts. During the three-day duration that our Closeout domains are available, they'll have a fixed price which will decrease daily. This fixed price does not include the domain extension's renewal fee, which must also be paid upon checkout.
If the domains do receive bids in Expired Auctions but for some reason, such as fraud or abuse, the transfer of ownership is not successful, they will be re-listed in Last Chance Auctions. These auctions last for 7 days, and you can bid anytime during that period. Once you win the auction and pay for the domain, it will be moved into your Dynadot account (due to the nature of these names, please note that domains purchased from Last Chance Auctions will not be renewed, and will retain their original expiry date).
Dynappraisal provides an automated estimate of a domain's value based on factors such as length, memorability, keyword popularity, TLD value, historical sales data, and market trends.
This estimate is intended as a guideline only and does not guarantee a selling price.
The "Links" column shows the number of backlinks associated with a domain. A backlink is a clickable URL on another website that points to the listed domain. Backlinks may have a positive effect on search engine rankings, although some backlinks may be more valuable than others.
This column can be helpful for users considering expired domains for SEO purposes, and backlinks may also influence how a domain is evaluated. However, this information is provided for reference only, and Dynadot does not guarantee SEO results, ranking improvements, traffic, or any other success from purchasing a domain.
The "Age" column shows the total number of years since the domain was first registered. Older domains can sometimes have greater value, although that often depends on how the domain was used over time.
Domain age may also be a consideration for users interested in SEO. However, this information is provided for reference only, and Dynadot does not guarantee value, SEO performance, or any other success from purchasing a domain.
