I almost got heart attack
11/17/2006 13:39
I almost got heart attack today when I saw my email account full of "My domain.com whois blabla", first I thought that somebody hacked my account and transfered my domains and changed whois - but it was this "We are required by ICANN to send you the whois information for this domain once a year" phu...
I'm just wondering how many other members felt same as me :)

Yes, it can get annoying. However, I commend Dynadot for doing whatever it takes to actually follow ICANN regulations. Some (cough cough) do not follow these regulations.

It might be nice to offer an option in the control panel for consolidation. However, I back you doing whatever it takes to follow ICANN rules.

Thanks again!

Yup, I got them as well. I woke up and there were about 245 emails in my inbox. I thought I got popular overnight lol. The worst part of it is that all of my emails are forwarded to my cell phone. I think i'll be going over my texting plan this month! ;)

congrats dynadot.  This morning when I saw more they were in AOL's spam folder.  AOL has filtered this out as bulk/junk mail.

Bad approach. Now I hope customers using AOL as their email will be getting expiration notices.

Congrats dynadot.

Sorry about the massive emailing we just sent out. Basically we sent one email for each top level domain in our entire system. (Country level domains do not require this email). The email contains the current whois info for that domain. We know that those of you with lots of domains can get overwhelmed.

For those that are interested, we send these emails once a year to stay in compliance with ICANN's Whois Data Reminder Policy. The goal of the policy is to remind registrants to keep their whois data up to date.

We have considered combining the emails. But we could not tell if that was ok or not based on the above link. So we decided to play it safe and send one email per domain, which seems to be what ICANN intended.

Could you email us some of the domains that got the email twice? That should not have happened.

I got hundreds of them too for each of my domains at dynadot.
Funny thing is now they're sending me a SECOND copy for some of them.

Can't you guys just send a cosolidated email for all the domains in the account? sheesh :P
