Why Is My Domain Unverified?

Updated: 2026/10/27Viewed times: 23

You may be required to verify your Whois contact record when registering or managing a generic top-level domain (gTLD). We will send you a Whois Contact Record Verification email when any of the following occurs:

  • You create a new contact record and select it for one or more of your gTLDs.
  • You edit an existing contact record that is associated with one or more of your gTLDs.
  • You purchase a new gTLD that uses your default contact record, which is currently unverified.

If you do not verify your contact record within 15 days of receiving the verification email, the affected domain(s) will be marked as unverified and placed on Client Hold status. While the hold is in place, you will be unable to manage the affected domain(s).

How Do I Remove the Unverified Flag and Client Hold?

To remove the hold and restore domain management access, follow these steps:

  1. Find the Whois Contact Record Verification email we sent you.
  2. Follow the instructions in the email to complete the verification process.

If you can no longer find the verification email, follow the instructions to resend the Whois contact record verification email and complete the verification process.
